  A "Pan Khone" is a type of small wooden stand with holes. It is used to arrange and display colourful flower petals to offer at a temple. This tradition of offering flowers on a Pan Khone is a custom that now survives in only three locations in the Mon region: Kwan Yaik village on Bilu Kyun (Bilu Island), Kyaik Thoke Pagoda in Mawlamyine, and Katoe Kawthnat village.

  Every morning, Mon women gather flowers with their bamboo baskets and water pails. After finishing their daily chores around 10:30 AM, they gather at the temple to make their offerings. They sort the collected flowers by colour—some are kept whole, while others have their petals carefully removed. The petals are then folded and sized as needed.

  After arranging the petals on the Pan Khone in a visually pleasing way, they are displayed at the temple for the entire day. Although the tradition remains in only three places, the patterns and designs created with the flowers differ from one location to another.

  The practice of offering flowers on a Pan Khone is more than a simple offering; it is a cultural heritage that expresses the Mon women's dedication, artistic creativity, and daily devotion. It is a beautiful way for them to preserve their traditions.
