  Construction of the Sandamuni Pagoda (also known as the Innwa Mahamyatmuni Pagoda) began in 1602 under King Nyaungyan. It was completed and gilded by King Anaukpetlun. The pagoda received its current name, Sandamuni Pagoda, in 1827 after King Bagyidaw (Sagaing Min) moved the Sandamuni Buddha image from Amarapura to the Mahamyatmuni Pagoda in Innwa.

  The pagoda is a massive, historically significant structure with large boundary walls and great religious importance to the city of Innwa. Its terraces feature staircases adorned with lion, naga, and ogre statues, while two-bodied lion statues decorate the four corners, offering insights into Nyaungyan-era art and architecture. An annual festival takes place on the full moon day of Kason (May), drawing people from across Innwa who process and pour water on the Bodhi tree.

  The pagoda, which sustained damage in the 2025 earthquake, has undergone multiple renovations and repairs throughout its history. It now faces ongoing threats from natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. Its continued preservation is therefore reliant on the application of expert conservation techniques and adequate funding.

  There are two other pagodas named Sandamuni, one in the Tampawaddy ward of Chanmyathazi Township and one at the foot of Mandalay Hill. These pagodas offer an opportunity to study the architecture of the Amarapura (19th century) and Yadanabon (late 19th century) eras.

  စန္ဒာမုနိဘုရား (အင်းဝမဟာမြတ်မုနိဘုရား) သည် ၁၆၀၂ ခုနှစ်တွင် ညောင်ရမ်းမင်း စတင်တည်ခဲ့ပြီး၊ အနောက်ဘက်လွန်မင်းမှ ပြီးစီးအောင်တည်ခဲ့ကာ ရွှေချပူဇော်ခဲ့ပါသည်။ ၁၈၂၇ ခုနှစ်တွင် စစ်ကိုင်းမင်းသည် အမရပူရမှ စန္ဒာမုနိရုပ်ပွားတော်ကို အင်းဝမြို့ မဟာမြတ်မုနိဘုရားသို့ပင့်ဆောင်ခဲ့ရာ ယင်းစန္ဒာမုနိရုပ်ပွားတော်ကိုအစွဲပြု၍ မဟာမြတ်မုနိဘုရားအား စန္ဒာမုနိဘုရား ဟုခေါ်တွင်ခဲ့ကြသည်၊၊

  မဟာရံတံတိုင်းများပါဝင်ပြီး ထုထည်ကြီးမားကာ ပစ္စယံလှေကား ဝဲယာအဆင့်ဆင့်တွင် ခြင်္သေ့ရုပ်၊ နဂါးရုပ်၊ ဘီလူးရုပ်တုများဖြင့် တည်ဆောက်ထားခြင်း၊ စေတီ၏ထောင့်လေးမျက်နှာတွင် ခြင်္သေ့ကိုယ်နှစ်ခွရုပ်တုများ တည်ဆောက်ထားခြင်းတို့ကြောင့် အဆိုပါရုပ်တုများမှ ညောင်ရမ်းခေတ်အနုပညာနှင့် ဗိသုကာပညာကို လေ့လာနိုင်သည်။ နှစ်စဉ် ကဆုန်လပြည့်နေ့တိုင်း အင်းဝမြို့လုံးဆိုင်ရာ ရပ်ကွက်အသီးသီးမှ စီတန်းလှည့်လည်၍ ညောင်ရေသွန်းကြသည့် ပွဲတော်ရှိပါသည်။ အင်းဝမြို့၏အစဉ်အဆက် သမိုင်းတန်ဖိုးကြီးမားသော စေတီတစ်ဆူဖြစ်ပြီး ကိုးကွယ်ယုံကြည်မှုဆိုင်ရာအရ အရေးပါသောကဏ္ဍတွင်တည်ရှိနေပါသည်။

  ၂၀၂၅ ခုနှစ် ငလျင်ကြောင့် ပျက်စီးမှုများရှိပါသည်။ ခေတ်အဆက်ဆက် ပြုပြင်မွမ်းမံပြင်ဆင်မှုများရှိခဲ့သည်။ လက်ရှိတွင် ရေကြီးခြင်း၊ ငလျင်လှုပ်ခြင်းကဲ့သို့ သဘာဝဘေးအန္တရာယ်များ ကြုံတွေ့နေရပြီး ဆက်လက်ထိန်းသိမ်းရန်အတွက် ပညာရှင်၊ ထိန်းသိမ်းမှုနည်းပညာနှင့် ရံပုံငွေများ လိုအပ်လျက်ရှိပါသည်။

  စန္ဒာမုနိအမည်ဖြင့် မန္တလေးမြို့၊ ချမ်းမြသာစည်မြို့နယ်၊ တမ္ပဝတီအရပ်နှင့် မန္တလေးတောင်ခြေတွင် (၂) ဆူရှိပြီး အမရပူရခေတ် (၁၉ ရာစု)နှင့် ရတနာပုံခေတ်(၁၉ရာစုနှောင်းပိုင်း) ဗိသုကာလက်ရာများကို လေ့လာနိုင်သည်။
