Asset Information

Built in 1819 during the reign of King Bagyidaw, the Pathodawgyi Pagoda's design draws inspiration from Sri Lanka's Maha Ceti Pagoda. Its terraces feature 550 Jataka tales meticulously carved into marble.
These marble carvings are crucial for scholars studying the evolution of Jataka art, marking a significant artistic shift from traditional terracotta and glazed tiles. These individual marble carvings can also be compared with Nipattaw paintings to broaden the study of Burmese art.
Although the pagoda's banana bud and umbrella were damaged in the 2025 earthquake and are currently undergoing repair, the marble carvings of the 550 Jataka tales on the lower terrace remain unharmed. The condition of the carvings on the upper terrace is yet to be determined.

ပုထိုးတော်ကြီးစေတီတော်ကို ၁၈၁၉ ခုနှစ် ဘကြီးတော်မင်းလက်ထက်တွင် တည်ထားခဲ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ သီဟိုဠ်မှ မဟာစေတီပုံစံ တည်ထားခဲ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ စကျင်ကျောက်တွင် ထွင်းထုထားသော ၅၅၀ ဇာတ်တော်များကိုလည်း ဤစေတီ၏ ပစ္စယံများတွင် တွေ့ရှိနိုင်သည်။
ကုန်းဘောင်ခေတ် ပုထိုးတော်ကြီးတွင် ဇာတ်ကွက်များကို စကျင်ကျောက်ဖြင့် ထုလုပ်ထားရာ ခေတ်အဆက်ဆက် ၅၅၀ ဇာတ်တော် အနုပညာ ဖန်တီးမှုများကို လေ့လာလိုသူများအတွက် အရေးပါပါသည်။ ၅၅၀ ဇာတ်တော်များကို မြေမီးဖုတ်နှင့် စဉ့်တွင်းစဉ့်ချပ်များ အသုံးပြုထုလုပ်ခြင်းမှသည် ကျောက်သားများအား ထွင်းထုပုံဖော်ကာ အသစ်တီထွင်လာသည်ကို တွေ့ရသည်။ စကျင်ကျောက်တစ်ချပ်ချင်းစီဖြင့် ပုံဖော်ထုဆစ်ထားမှုများအား နိပါတ်တော် ပန်းချီများနှင့်လည်း နှိုင်းယှဉ်လေ့လာနိုင်ပါသည်။
၂၀၂၅ ခုနှစ် ငလျင်ကြောင့် ပုထိုးတော်ကြီးစေတီတော်၏ ငှက်ပျောဖူးနှင့် ထီးတော်ကျိုးကျ ပျက်စီးသွားခဲ့ပါသည်။ လက်ရှိတွင် ပုထိုးတော်ကြီးစေတီတော်အား ပြုပြင်နေဆဲဖြစ်ပြီး အောက်ပစ္စယံရှိစကျင်ကျောက်ထွင်း ၅၅၀ ဇာတ်တော်အချပ်များ ပျက်စီးထိခိုက်မှုရှိသည်ကို မတွေ့ရှိရပါ။ အထက်ပစ္စယံရှိ စကျင်ကျောက်ထွင်း ၅၅၀ ဇာတ်တော်အချပ်များပျက်စီးထိခိုက်မှု ရှိ၊ မရှိ မသိရှိရပါ။
