Asset Information

When King Mindon moved his royal capital from Amarapura to Mandalay, the Yamaethin Queen dismantled the residence in Amarapura and rebuilt it as a monastery within the compound of the Mahar Withudhayama Monastery. This wooden monastery is a great example of the architectural style of the Amarapura era.
The monastery is supported by 63 teak posts and has two external staircases with multi-tiered, jasmine-shaped-tiered roofs. The facade of the monastery features a carved peacock, while the building itself is adorned with intricate floral wood carvings, glass mosaic and gilt relief work, and multi-tiered spires. These elements showcase the magnificent architecture of the late Konbaung era. The monastery is highly valued by both locals and researchers.
Today, the monastery is still home to monks. Due to its age, some of the glass mosaic and gilt work has faded and deteriorated. The abbot maintains the building by applying a coat of oil dregs every two years. As a wooden structure, it requires continuous preservation to protect it from insect infestations and natural disasters.
The Yamaethin Monastery, along with the Moe Kaung Monastery and the Kyeay Myin Monastery, were all rebuilt and donated by King Mindon's queens. These three wooden monasteries, located within the Mahar Withudhayama Monastery compound, are all excellent examples of late Konbaung era architecture.

ကျွန်းတိုင်လုံးပေါင်း (၆၃) တိုင်ပါဝင်ပြီး၊ လှေကားနှစ်စင်းအပြင်ထုတ်၍ လှေကားအမိုးများကို စံပယ်ထပ်ပုံစံအထပ်ထပ်ဖြင့် တည်ဆောက်ထားသည်။ ကျောင်းဆောင်ကြီး၏ မျက်နှာစာတွင် သစ်သားပန်းပု ဒေါင်းဝိုင်းပုံပါရှိပြီး သစ်သားပန်းကနုတ်လက်ရာများ၊ မှန်စီရွှေချပန်းပုလက်ရာများနှင့် ပြဿဒ်ဘုံအဆင့်ဆင့်များသည် ခမ်းနားတင့်တယ်သော ကုန်းဘောင်ခေတ်နှောင်းပိုင်း၏ ဗိသုကာလက်ရာများကို ဖော်ပြနေပါသည်။ မြို့ခံများ၊ သုတေသီများ၏တန်ဖိုးထားရာ ရှေးဟောင်းကျောင်းဆောင်ကြီးလည်း ဖြစ်သည်။
လက်ရှိတွင် သံဃာတော်များ သီတင်းသုံးနေထိုင်ကြသည်။ နှစ်ပေါင်းကြာပြီဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ကျောင်းကြီးထဲရှိ မှန်စီရွှေချလက်ရာများမှာ မှေးမှိန်ပြီးပျက်စီးလာကြသည်။ ကျောင်းထိုင်ဆရာတော်မှ နှစ်နှစ်တစ်ကြိမ် ရေနံချေးသုတ်၍ ထိန်းသိမ်းလျက်ရှိသည်။ သစ်သားကျောင်းဆောင်ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် အင်းဆက်ပိုးမွှားများအန္တရာယ်နှင့် သဘာဝဘေးအန္တရာယ်များအတွက် ကြိုတင်ပြင်ဆင်မှုများရှိရန် လိုအပ်ပါသည်။
မင်းတုန်းမင်း၏ မိဖုရားများ ဆောက်လုပ်လှူဒါန်းထားသော ရမည်းသင်းကျောင်း၊ မိုးကောင်းကျောင်းနှင့် ကြေးမြင်ကျောင်းတိုက် စသည့် ကျောင်း (၃) ကျောင်းသည် မဟာဝိသုဒ္ဓါရာမကျောင်းတိုက်အတွင်းရှိ ပြန်လည်ပြုပြင်လှူဒါန်းထားသော သစ်သားကျောင်းဆောင်ကြီးများဖြစ်၍ ကုန်းဘောင်ခေတ်နှောင်းပိုင်း၏ ဗိသုကာလက်ရာများကို လေ့လာနိုင်ပါသည်။
