In 1878, King Thibaw built the Wakhinkone Pagoda in Maha Siri Haymawun garden located at the southeastern part of the royal palace grounds and named it Manaung Yadanar Pagoda. It is commonly known as Wakhinkone Pagoda because it is located in the Wakhinkone Ward. Inside the pagoda, relics, soil from Bodh Gaya, a panchaloha (five metals) Buddha image, and religious texts written on gold and silver sheets were enshrined.
The Wakhinkone Pagoda is a work of late Konbaung era architecture. The pagoda festival is held annually on the second day after the full moon of the month of Tabaung. The festival is well-known for its beautiful and vibrant flower mat offering ceremony. During this ceremony, devotees create intricate floral designs and images from the Jataka tales on a mat around the pagoda as an offering to the Buddha. A unique tradition of the festival is that women's groups from the seven main wards near the pagoda carry flower bowls, walk clockwise around the pagoda, and offer flowers.
The pagoda underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2007. The last flower mat festival was held in 2019, which was its 134th year. Currently, the flower mat offering is not included in the pagoda festival. The Wakhinkone Pagoda festival is the last of the annual pagoda festivals in Mandalay, and the flower mat offering ceremony makes it especially popular and well-attended. Since it is a festival where people can see the sculptural beauty of flowers created by floral artists and enthusiasts, it is important that this tradition is preserved.

ဝါခင်းကုန်းဘုရားကို ၁၈၇၈ ခုနှစ်တွင် သီပေါမင်းက နန်းတော်၏ အရှေ့တောင်အရပ်တွင်ရှိသော မဟာသီရိဟေမဝန်ဥယျာဉ်နေရာ၌ တည်ထားကိုးကွယ်ခဲ့ပြီး မာန်အောင်ရတနာစေတီတော်ဟူသော ခေါ်တွင်စေခဲ့သည်။ သို့သော် ဝါခင်းကုန်းရပ်တွင်တည်ရှိသောကြောင့် ဝါခင်းကုန်းဘုရားဟု အရပ်အမည်ဖြင့်သာ လူသိများကြသည်။ စေတီတော်ထဲတွင် ဓာတ်တော်မွေတော်များ၊ ဗုဒ္ဓဂါယာမှ မြေသား၊ ပဉ္စလောဟာရုပ်ပွါးတော်နှင့် ရွှေလွှာငွေလွှာ ဓမ္မခန္တာပါဠိတော်များကို ဌာပနာခဲ့သည်။
ဝါခင်းကုန်းစေတီတော်သည် ကုန်းဘောင်ခေတ်နှောင်း ဗိသုကာလက်ရာဖြစ်သည်။ ဝါခင်းကုန်းဘုရားပွဲကို နှစ်စဉ် တပို့တွဲလပြည့်ကျော် (၂)ရက်နေ့တွင် ကျင်းပပြီး ပွဲတော်ရက်တွင် ပန်းမွေ့ယာပူဇော်ပွဲကို စည်ကားစွာကျင်းပကြသည်။ ပန်းမွေ့ယာဆိုသည်မှာ ဘုရားရင်ပြင်ပတ်လည်တွင် ပန်းမျိုးစုံတို့ဖြင့် ဗုဒ္ဓဝင်ရုပ်လုံးရုပ်ကြွများ၊ ပန်းအလှအဆင်တန်ဆာများ ပုံဖော်၍ မြတ်စွာဘုရားအားပူဇော်ကြခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။ စေတီအနီးရှိ ရပ်ကွက်ကြီး (၇) ရပ်ကွက်မှ အမျိုးသမီးအသင်းအဖွဲ့များသည် ပန်းဖလားများ ကိုင်ဆောင်ပြီး ဘုရားကို လက်ယာရစ်ပူဇော်ကာ ပန်းကပ်လှုကြသည့် ဓလေ့သည် ဝါခင်းကုန်းဘုရားပွဲ၏ ထူးခြားချက်တစ်ရပ်ဖြစ်သည်။
၂၀၀၇ ခုနှစ်တွင် စေတီတော်အား ဘက်စုံမွမ်းမံပြင်ဆင်ခဲ့သည်။ ပန်းမွေ့ယာခင်းပွဲတော်ကို ၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ်တွင် (၁၃၄) ကြိမ်မြောက်အဖြစ် နောက်ဆုံးကျင်းပခဲ့သည်။ လက်ရှိ ဘုရားပွဲရက်များတွင် ပန်းမွေ့ယာပူဇော်ပွဲကို ထည့်သွင်းကျင်းပနိုင်ခြင်း မရှိပါ။ ဝါခင်းကုန်းဘုရားပွဲသည် မန္တလေးမြို့၏တစ်နှစ်တာဘုရားပွဲတော်များတွင် နောက်ဆုံးဘုရားပွဲဖြစ်ပြီး ပန်းမွေ့ယာပူဇော်ပွဲတော်ပါဝင်သောကြောင့် လူအများ၏ စိတ်ဝင်စားခြင်းခံရပြီး စည်ကားခဲ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ ပန်းအလှပညာရှင်များ၊ ဝါသနာရှင်များ၏ ရုပ်လုံးရုပ်ကြွပန်းအလှများကို တစ်စုတစ်ဝေးတည်းမြင်တွေ့နိုင်သော ဘုရားပွဲတော်ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ပန်းမွေ့ယာပူဇော်ပွဲ ဓလေ့ထုံးစံကို ဆက်လက်ထိန်းသိမ်းရန် လိုအပ်လျက်ရှိပါသည်။
