  Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, founded in 1117 AD (479 ME) by King Alaungsithu, is a renowned heritage site and landmark in the Inle region. Around 1890 AD (1252 ME), a monastery was built in Nanhhu Village to house and venerate its five Buddha images. These images are famously covered in so much gold leaf that their original forms are no longer discernible.

  Annually in October, the pagoda hosts the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival. During this 21-day event, the five Buddha images are ceremoniously paraded around the villages of Inle Lake, culminating in a three-day worship period in Nyaungshwe. The festival attracts pilgrims from across Myanmar and also features traditional Inle boat races and other cultural events alongside the religious procession.

  Currently, parts of the pagoda are undergoing repairs due to recent damage caused by an earthquake and flooding.

  ဖောင်တော်ဦးဘုရားကို မြန်မာသက္ကရာဇ် ၄၇၉ ခုနှစ်တွင် အလောင်းစည်သူမင်းကြီးက တည်ထောင်ခဲ့သည်ဟု ရာဇဝင်အရ သိရပါသည်။ မြန်မာသက္ကရာဇ် ၁၂၅၂ ခုနှစ် ၊ ခရစ်သက္ကရာဇ် ၁၈၉၀ ခုနှစ်ခန့်တွင် နန်းဟူးကျေးရွာ၌ ကျောင်းတော်တည်ဆောက်ကာ ပူဇော်ကိုးကွယ်ခဲ့ကြပါသည်။ ရုပ်ပွားတော် (၅)ဆူမှာ ရွှေချထားသဖြင့် ဆင်းတုတော်ပုံသဏ္ဌာန်ကို မတွေ့ရတော့ပေ။ အင်းလေးဒေသ၏ အမွေအနှစ် အဖြစ်လည်းကောင်း၊ အထင်ကရ နေရာအဖြစ်လည်းကောင်း ထင်ရှားပါသည်။

  ဖောင်တော်ဦး ဘုရားပွဲကို နှစ်စဉ် အောက်တိုဘာလတွင် ကျင်းပလေ့ရှိကြပြီး၊ အင်းလေးကန် ပတ်လည်ရှိ ရွာများသို့ (၂၁)ရက် ဒေသစာရီ ကြွချီကာ ညောင်ရွှေတွင် (၃)ရက် ပူဇော်ကျင်းပကြသည်။ ဖောင်တော်ဦးဘုရားပွဲကို မြန်မာတစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးမှ ပြည်သူများ လာရောက်ဆင်နွှဲလေ့ရှိကြသည်။ ဘုရားပွဲနှင့်အတူ အင်းလေးရိုးရာ လှေပြိုင်ပွဲများနှင့် အခြားရိုးရာဓလေ့ထုံးတမ်းများကို ပြုလုပ်ကျင်းပလေ့ရှိကြသည်။

  လက်ရှိအခြေအနေမှာ ငလျင်၊ ရေဘေးတို့ကြောင့် အချို့နေရာများ ထိခိုက်ပျက်စီးထားပြီး ပြုပြင်ထိန်းသိမ်းလျက်ရှိပါသည်။
