Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, also known as the "Jumping Cat Monastery," is a historic wooden structure built in 1843 AD (1205 ME) during the reign of Sao Se U, Saopha of Yawnghwe (Nyaungshwe).
The monastery is supported by numerous teak pillars. Inside, the monastery features Buddha statues from various historical periods, each displaying a unique style. It also houses many ornate pulpits and prayer halls, adorned with intricate floral designs and glass mosaic artwork. The monastery earned its famous nickname, the "Jumping Cat Monastery" because it used to have many cats that were trained to jump through hoops.
Each year, during the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival, the revered Buddha images from the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda stay overnight at Nga Phe Chaung Monastery. Devotees gather here to offer their respects and traditional alms.
Currently, the monastery has suffered considerable damage from recent floods and earthquakes. The abbot leads the restoration efforts, with the local community providing assistance in the preservation and maintenance of this important site.

ငါးဖယ်ချောင်းဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းသည် ညောင်ရွှေစော်ဘွားစဝ်ဆီဥလက်ထက် မြန်မာသက္ကရာဇ် ၁၂၀၅ခုနှစ် ၊ ခရစ်သက္ကရာဇ် ၁၈၄၃ ခုနှစ် တွင်တည်ဆောက်ထားသော သစ်သားအဆောက်အဦဖြစ်ပြီး ကျွန်းတိုင်လုံးပေါင်းများစွာဖြင့် ဆောက်လုပ်ထားပါသည်။
ဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းအတွင်းတွင် ထားရှိသော ဆင်းတုတော်များမှာ ခေတ်အမျိုးမျိုးမှ လက်ရာများဖြစ်ပြီး တစ်ဆူနှင့်တစ်ဆူမတူညီကြပေ။ ဘုရားပုလ္လင်တော်များနှင့် တရားဟောပုလ္လင်များ၊ ဘုရားကျောင်းဆောင်များစွာရှိပြီး ကနုတ်ပန်းဒီဇိုင်းနှင့် လက်ရာများ၊ မှန်စီရွှေချလက်ရာများကို တွေ့ရပါသည်။ ရှေးယခင်က ကြောင်များစွာရှိပြီး ကြောင်များကို လေ့ကျင့်ပေးကာ ကွင်းဝိုင်းတွင် ခုန်နိုင်သဖြင့် ကြောင်ခုန်ကျောင်းဟုလည်း လူသိများပါသည်။
နှစ်စဥ်နှစ်တိုင်း ဖောင်တော်ဦးဘုရားပွဲတော်ချိန်တွင် ထိုကျောင်းတော်၌ ဖောင်တော်ဦးရုပ်ပွားတော်များ တစ်ညတာကျိန်း၍ ဘုရားဒကာ၊ ဒကာမများက လာရောက် ဖူးမြော်ကြပြီး ရိုးရာဆွမ်းတော်ပွဲများဖြင့် လှူဒါန်းလေ့ရှိကြပါသည်။ ရိုးရာ ဆွမ်းလောင်းလှူပွဲများလည်း ကျင်းပလေ့ရှိကြသည်။
လက်ရှိအခြေအနေတွင် သဘာဝ ရေဘေးနှင့် ငလျင်ဘေးများကြောင့် ဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းမှာ ထိခိုက်ပျက်စီးမှူ များစွာ ရှိခဲ့ပါသည်။ ပြုပြင်ထိန်းသိမ်းမှုများကို ဘုန်းကြီးမှဦးဆောင်၍ ရပ်ရွာလူထုများမှပါဝင်ကူညီ ထိန်းသိမ်းစောင့်ရှောက်လျက်ရှိကြပါသည်။
